The Country and Organization Leader Travel (COLT) Project tracks every known, observed overseas trip by roughly 200 countries’ priority government leaders in near-real time. Extending from 1 January 1990 through last month – and updated monthly thereafter – COLT presently includes approximately 90,000 travel events involving roughly 3,000 world leaders. Along with primary heads of government or state, COLT includes data on travel and accompanying leader biographies and education information for foreign-, defense-, and finance-minister-equivalents for all Group of 20 member countries from 1 January 2018 onward. To our knowledge, COLT comprises the world’s largest single collection of information of government leader travel, a unique quality which we are continually seek to leverage through ongoing academic studies and analytical reports.As a Research Aide working with the Pardee Center’s COLT Project, which is part of the larger Diplometrics research portfolio, I am responsible for synthesizing qualitative research and integrating findings from various sources into a quantitative format. This work is client-driven and a Research Aide working with the COLT Project must be committed to completing quality work within a planned timeline of deliverables and communicating effectively with team members.

My time as a Communications Assistant at Byrum & Fisk was spent creating informational materials on a variety of topics for policymakers about issues that are impacting Michigan residents. With guidance from experienced Communications Strategists, I composed materials for clients ranging from the agricultural to energy sectors. These materials appeared in Michigan media markets and across a wide variety of social media platforms. As a Communications Assistant a significant part of my role involved pitching client stories to Michigan newspapers, radio stations, and television stations. My goal was to increase the name recognition of our clients and to keep the public up to date on their activities within their respective industries and their communities.

As a Student Policy Fellow at IPPSR I researched, reviewed, and predicted the economic impact of emerging technologies on Michigan’s automotive industry. My findings were presented to the public and faculty at MSU’s undergraduate research exposition. I researched state environmental policies and measured their effectiveness to determine better approaches and methods of implementation. Multiple posts with my findings were published on IPPSR's policy wonk blog. I was also responsible for condensing economic and environmental research articles into summaries which were then added to the IPPSR database for policymakers, industry professionals, and MSU faculty to reference.
