Industrial Safety Specialist
Current• Support NASA Safety & Mission Assurance Lead in the oversight of all onsite operations, to include responsibility for ensuring the safety inspection program and evaluating safety systems at MSFC/MAF. • Active team participant in independent assessment responsible for the verification of compliance with Federal and State Industrial, Occupational Safety and Health standards on NASA property. • Conduct in-field hands-on inspection of safety systems, accident and incident investigations, Preliminary Design Reviews, baseline of system drawings and assessment of engineering analysis of safety systems to insure they are code compliant and safe for continued operation. • Provided Weekly Activity Reports (WARs) and technical status reports as needed to the NASA S&MA Lead and Bastion Project Lead in keeping them abreast of operational situations and emerging issues.• Assure inspection findings are documented in the Safety, Health and Environmental Tracking System (SHETRAK). Review and approve SHETRAK findings, closures and abatement plans prior to release/submittal to responsible organizations. Manage NASA Mishap Information System (NMIS) for the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF). Provide support as a Reviewer for the NASA Advisories, Notices and Alerts Distribution and Response Tracking System (NANADARTS). Member of the NASA MAF Safety Culture committee. Support MAF Production Readiness Reviews (PRR), Flight Readiness Reviews (FRR), Facility Design Reviews, Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Committee, Facility Contractor Performance Work Statement oversight, SHE Manager/Executive Committee, perform MAF audits, assessments, investigations, and trending analysis.
