Hello, I am Marcus! I currently work as a Life Safety Inspector with a fire protection company located in Birmingham. I served about 7 years in the United States Navy as a Damage Controlman. The time I spent in the Navy was priceless as this experience taught me valuable lessons that I hope to use to further my future. I could say my most proud moment in the Navy was when I was awarded with my first Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal on the flight deck of our ship on a deployment. While serving on my active duty contract, I carried several collateral duties while maintaining my daily work requirements. These collateral duties include important jobs such as Duty Fire marshal (1-6), Gas Free Engineer, and Hotsuitman for the Flight Deck Fire Party. Shortly after active duty, I transitioned to the reserves where I would crossover into the civilian Fire Academy and earn my EMT-b out of Florida. Unfortunately I was injured in a car accident and those injuries would not allow me to finish with Fire 2, ultimately leading to completion of the course and graduation to a Firefighter. I’ve learned so many things along the way and yet still continue to educate myself with hopes of one day being able to educate others. It’s safe to say my background is in Firefighting, Life Safety, Fire Protection, Medical Services, and customer service.
