About Mark Young

“I SOW SEEDS SO OTHERS CAN MAXIMIZE THEIR YIELD”At 11 years old I recruited my little brother to accompany me to our neighbor’s hayfield to ask if they could use two strong kids who knew their way around farm machinery and hard work. As luck would have it, they did need help. We worked hard baling and stacking hay and proved ourselves within our small rural community. I learned about hard work, being a team player, and taking responsibility. So, what is the point? After a 21-year career in the military, I find myself doing self-reflection on the things that got me to where I am. The result is that I always put my best foot forward, I have an unmatched work ethic, and I learn from and share my experiences with others to help them become the best version of themselves. I am in search of opportunities in organizations that put teamwork above all. I want to build a sense of belonging, responsibility, and accountability among team members and create a sense of pride in getting the job done to the best of our ability. I enjoy solving difficult problems in unique ways and taking on challenging assignments that some may shy away from. I thrive in dynamic and challenging situations and love to organize teams that prioritize tasks and focus on accomplishing and surpassing goals. One of my best traits is that I am coachable, trainable and truly I take in feedback and attempt to learn from it whenever I receive it. I have a thirst for knowledge and learning and I am unafraid to push past my comfort zone. When I am a subordinate in a team I encourage an open dialogue and sharing ideas among peers and leaders and I strive to help the team leadership shine in their position. As a leader, I wholeheartedly encourage input from all members and understand that there is almost always someone smarter than me in many aspects of a project. I rarely make a mistake without learning a valuable lesson and I truly believe that “teamwork makes the dream work”.The best way to build an effective team is to create an environment of mutual respect, trust and belonging between leaders and subordinates and leverage the unique skills of individual team members for the collective good. The leader/manager who truly understands how to manage talent and make people feel like their contributions are appreciated is unstoppable, and by association, so are those he or she serves and leads as well as their organization at large. I would love to find an organization where I can employ this type of leadership. Gallup Strengths: Deliberative | Focus | Achiever | Analytical | Learner
