Identify policy and research opportunities, collating research material and analysing the data; Liaise with key partners regarding the implementation of policy findings and establish links with other organisations to share experiences and good practice; Identify project funding opportunities and write funding bids; Act as a spokesperson for Alcohol Change UK, including press and public speaking; Oversee and deliver the charity’s grant portfolio and programmes; Manage the Alcohol Change UK Wales office in the absence of the Wales Director.

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, I managed a team of staff to deliver high quality work and provide excellent customer service across a variety of funding programmes. Key duties included managing the grant-making process; presenting portfolios of applications to decision-making committees; preparing, analysing and communicating management information; contributing to the development of new processes, procedures and programmes; managing external contracts; building and maintaining effective working relationships across the organisation and with external bodies and agencies; and representing BIG externally at a variety of public events.

Key tasks included undertaking the technical appraisal of grant applications, preparing written recommendations to independent panels, managing the grant offer and administering the payment process.
