Supervised course development and conducted courses for the Bureau of Meteorology Training Centre. Developed new courses for BMTC to educate employees in new technologies..System administrator of the BMTC network. Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and hardware/software upgrades of the five Linux-based web, file and print servers, including the NCSA HTTP daemon, NFS services, Samba interface and various mail packages. Designed and wrote HTML pages and CGI scripts for BMTC website.Other responsibilities included developing and conducting new training courses in HTML; updating and conducting courses previously developed from 1989 - 1993 (see below); supporting BMTC staff and trainees in use of BMTC network as well as general Windows-based software.

Bureau Of Meteorology (Bom) Radar Laboratory

Appointed to the Weather Surveillance Radar Project in aid of the Fiji Meteorological Service. Responsible for assessing and optimizing the performance of the equipment: WF-100 and WSR-74S radars. Worked with Fiji Met Service personnel in formulating their own training program. Acted as point-of-contact for Fiji Met Service as well as other overseas BoM installations, troubleshooting and developing implementation plans for Radar Lab projects

Davis Station - Antarctica

Selected for five month position at Davis Station during the Antarctic summer. Responsible for installation and commissioning of new meteorological station at Davis. Equipment included MicroMac remote environmental monitoring systems, DEC Pathworks and TCP/IP network infrastructure, Electrolyser Corporation hydrogen generating equipment, radio receivers and transmitters.

Bmtc

Supervised course development and conducted courses for the Training Centre. Developed new courses for BMTC in Data Communications and Wide Area/Local Area Networking, including X.25 and TCP/IP. Worked closely with BoM engineers in the fan-out of new nationwide network infrastructure for the Bureau of Meteorology. Responsible for installation and upkeep of PCs in use at the Training Centre, planning and purchase of software and hardware upgrades.

Bmtc

Conducted training courses for trainee technical officers on repair and maintenance of BoM meteorological equipment as well as workshop practices and safety. Equipment covered included Plessey WF-44 and WF-2 radars, EG&G and Ball Bros. Automatic Weather Stations, analog (group 2) facsimile systems and Collins microwave data links.

Victorian Region Engineering Maintenance

Responsible for fault diagnosis, repair and installation of meteorological equipment for Victoria Region.
