Due to my father's job and career with the Boeing Company during my K-12 school years, I was fortunate to have lived and traveled during these years. When the massive layoffs hit Boeing upon the US government cancellation of the SST program, my dad saved his career by joining Boeing's Customer Support program. Boeing engineers and A&P technicians supported airlines throughout the world flying Boeing products.His first assignment was to Trenton, Ontario, Canada to support the RCAF, flying B707-320's. I attended my 8th and 9th grades there. His next assignment was to Beirut, Lebanon to support MEA and TMA, Lebanon's flagship airlines. We experienced the Yom Kippur war, Israel vs. the Arab states in October of 1973. In 1975, the Lebanese Civil War broke out and we eventually had to evacuate. I attended my 10th and 11th grades there. Upon returning from the States and landing in Athens, Greece, we waited to see if we'd ever return to Beirut for schooling and the Boeing operation. Boeing selected to move their business out of Lebanon and move it to Athens. I graduated my senior year in Greece.I ended up going to high school in three different countries, with fond memories and experiences. We visited the USSR, Egypt, Jordan, Iceland, London, and skied in Austria. I learned a little Lebanese and Greek during those times. I was living the "diversity" dream.
