I was retained to carry out a consultancy exercise on behalf of the owner of a specialist, national employment agency group. The company is a £1.1m t/o enterprise that has been in existence for about 9 years. About 3.5 years ago the owner took a decision to franchise the business in addition to retaining in - house activities and there are currently 9 franchises across the UK. My role was initially to evaluate the company and recommend necessary changes to its methods in order to improve turnover and profitability. I recommended a diversification programme and generally uplift the business over the next 12 months to £2m.

As one of five Co-ordinators in AGW, I had specific responsibility for the Swindon & N. Wilts. region. This comprised three NHS trusts - a PCT, an acute trust and an ambulance trust. The role was both facilitative and pivotal in that it provided the forums for health and social care organisations, including those from the independent and voluntary sectors, to meet, discuss and share common workforce-related issues and agree the appropriate funding support where possible.I chaired committe meetings and managed the budget (£500k) for all workforce related projects in the region.

Prior to this and contained within my CV, I worked within Lucent Technologies across a number of business divisions with a brief to establish, develop and improve all recruitment operations. This involved working closely with divisional managers/directors and in close partnership with HR in order to gear up recruitment, put appropriate methodologies in to place and gather valuable metrics and statistics within a Continuous Improvement quality environment. The process involved me project managing and attending various recruitment fairs and universities, including INSEAD in France where I helped to present the company to some of Europe’s top MBA graduates with a view to recruiting them to the company’s Global Management Development Programme.

Interim assignment to re - engineer the company’s Search and Selection business, providing clear direction for future development. This included establishing terms and conditions of business, fee structures, methodologies and the use of external researchers. Also established a cross - Atlantic relationship for high level Search assignments and put in to place a method of cross- marketing between the company’s two separate businesses.
