Architecture, design and development of product features primarily using Java.Working in the sustaining engineering department, my job duties include the design and development of data integration components used primarily for the automated transfer of data between the corporate application system and the customer's systems.These systems were primary Java based, but included SQL programming, REST-based web services and other transport mechanisms as required by the customer.In addition, I am responsible for support of all the existing data exchange components (many run on a regularly-scheduled basis) as well as providing support to the Sales and Customer Support teams.

Design and implement software features using Java and Swing.The company was developing a large-scale, distributed Swing-based application for use by the FAA. The work on this application has been all over the Java spectrum, including the design and implementation of customized mvc-based graphical components, serial/socket communications, JPA (using the H2 database), etc.Development was accomplished using Eclipse and Ant using Agile development methodologies.Responsibilities included:• Architecture, design and development of product features.• Writing functional specification documents, feature acceptance plans, etc.• Maintenance (bug fixing).

David Corporation is a world-wide supplier of custom designed applications for companies in the Insurance Risk Management market. The division in which I worked is focused on the NavRisk Policy Administration System. This is a primarily Dot Net application used to manage insurance policies, claims, etc.My responsibilities included:- Architecture, design and development of product features;- Architecture, design and development of a highly-specialized application generation tool;- Development of customer application implementations;- Maintenance (bug fixing).One of my primary tasks with David Corporation was the design and implementation of a Java-based application generation tool used to create customer implementations of the company's NavRisk application. This required the creation of a large-scale implementation specification (more than 300 pages), holding reviews with my peers and driving the implementation and testing phases of the project.The generation tool took advantage of an XML_based application model (definition) which resulted in the generation of customer-specific application components.Another of my responsibilities was the maintenance of a Unify NXJ-based web application deployed to multiple customer sites. As a result of my efforts, application stability and customer satisfaction were greatly enhanced.

Unify Corporation (now Daegis, Inc.) has been in the database and application tools business for over 25 years with an emphasis on improving the productivity of application developers. In the early 1990s, Unify began with the Java platform, and J2EE, and then moved into SOA enabled applications, among other technologies.Recent responsibilities included:• Architecture, design and development of product features.• Design and development of J2EE application components, including EJBs, servlets, portals, etc.• Maintenance (bug fixing).• Integration of large, third-party sources with Unify’s sources.• Management and administration of the group’s in-house tools, including RCS (their customized source control system), as well as their bug and issue tracking systems.Previous responsibilities included:• Managing the Accell/SQL product maintenance team.• Programming maintenance on all Unify product lines.• Assisted in the review of specifications for the design and implementation of new product features.My work environment was primarily UNIX and Windows/NT/2000, etc. My duties included project planning, the creation of various project specification documents (functional, implementation, acceptance, etc.).
