I have a wealth of experience in the building industry. My time in the building industry was extensive. I have performed work from rough carpentry to finish work, cabinetry to flooring, siding and roofing. Much of my time in the industry was spent as a lead carpenter or crew supervisor.As a teacher I have developed skills in assessing knowledge, growth, and skill levels. My first teaching position was at a private residential facility in Wendell, MA. While there, I developed and taught various levels of woodworking classes. Lake Grove was a Chapter 766 school that enrolled students with social/emotional issues. As a member of the staff I worked as a member of a team comprised of my student’s clinician, case worker, the school nurse as we monitored behaviors, affects of medications and educational progress.My second teaching position was at West Springfield High School in the Technology/Engineering department. The classes I taught included construction technology, manufacturing technology and robotics. At the close of the 2010 – 2011 school year the Technology/Engineering department was eliminated for programmatic reasons. I did, however, return to West Springfield as an interim teacher for the second semester of the 2011 – 2012 school year teaching computer programming, desktop publishing and computer applications. During the summer of 2009 I worked for the Franklin Hampshire Employment and Training Consortium as a counselor in their summer youth employment program. My duties included matching clients with available employers based on their applications, monitoring their progress or lack thereof, mediating any problems that may have arisen between my clients and their employers, verifying the client’s hours worked and delivering their paychecks to them each week. I am well organized, conscientious, reliable, and I can communicate effectively with both adolescents and adults. I am a good problem solver, I’m not afraid to take on new roles or challenges.
