The original software was written in ASP.Net C# by an offshore team and I was asked to police the practices being used and the coding standards used during the initial development.•Fixed bugs and resolved issues with the software mentioned above as well as porting some Delphi code into .Net for functionality enhancements.•Began development of a framework to be used as a base for the next generation of the portal software. The interface was to be written in Silverlight and the framework would serve as a backend and middle tier to provide data to that application.•Used Silverlight to create a proof of concept application with which to test the viability of the above framework.•Used WCF services and the framework to get and store data for the POC application.•Provided bug fixes and general maintenance for a few legacy applications. Some of those were written in VB.Net.•Began establishing a testing mechanism to be used by the team. This process uses a web service and xml to transmit the legacy data from the client application to the new schema using SQL Server 2005. The service uses an httphandler to make it asynchronous and increase its speed by 60%.•Initiated the code base for the next version of the software this company produces. This framework was created using CSLA .Net and WCF/WPF technologies.•Used Silverlight and WPF to create proof of concept applications with which to test the viability of the above framework.
