Marshall is committed to improving the adoption of new technology throughout the Commonwealth, and his family has been supporting Kentucky clients since 1969. Technology, automation, AI and Machine Learning are the foundation of the legacy we have created in the Commonwealth. Marshall began his career supporting IBM networking clients and after IBM sold this business to Cisco, Marshall began supporting IBM enterprise storage and server products. In 2003 Marshall and Dave Sevigny began working together to grow a new business from the ground up, DMD Data Systems. This business was renamed to Volta Technologies and currently has over 300+ clients in over 10 states. Marshall Butler is now the President and CEO and Volta has expanded its solution offerings to include the complete portfolio of products from Cisco, NetApp and Dell Technologies. In addition to these infrastructure partners, Volta has a very rapidly growing services business with managed services offerings around Backup and DRaaS, AWS Managed Solutions, and Enterprise Managed Cyber Security solutions. Marshall is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Louisville Male High School. Over his career Marshall has achieved over 50+ technology certifications, advanced technology training, and has been a Vistage member for 7 years. Marshall’s hobbies include reading biographies, competitive golf, fishing and coaching junior golf.

Marshall has been working in an IBM business development capacity for over 15 years. In this role he has delivered over 50% annual sales growth per year, and enjoyed developing long term client relationships. Marshall enjoys the competitive nature of the technology business and working closely with his partners. When he began at DMD in 2003 it was a fledgling company -and he has been the primary driver of its rapid growth. In his new role as VP of Sales, Marshall’s focus will change from his specific accounts to overall company growth and development. Once a professional golfer, Marshall still very much enjoys the sport. He coaches youth athletics and finds pleasure in reading good books; history is among his favorite subjects.
