Led campaign to add a ‘Science & Technology’ section to newspaper after discovering there wasn’t one. Initially worked as a volunteer writer and was appointed section editor after a year; I continued in this role for next two years. Responsibilities included managing and commissioning articles from a team of writers and advising them through their work. Editorial responsibilities included ensuring accuracy, legality and coherence of articles; sourcing images and fact-checking. I won a RUSU Student Media Award for best published article in Spark* over 2010-11 academic year for review of the Amazon Kindle 3.

Industrial placement year as part of my degree program. Primary role involved co-ordinating design and implementation of custom platforms to align with customer requirements, primarily in research divisions of the business. Decisions had to consider short and long term impacts on existing resources and infrastructure using cost-benefit analysis, as well as maintaining strict legal and ethical standards necessary in the pharmaceutical industry.

Initially hired as an editorial intern for the company's consumer-tech publication CNET, I primarily wrote articles covering the latest news and product reviews. Responsibilities included finding new and interesting developments in the field to write about, sourcing review products from PR firms and helping manage social media. After completing the internship, I and continued to write for the site on a regular, voluntary basis. Later, I had to opportunity to do freelance work developing, pitching and writing articles for their ‘How To’ section.

Collaborating with small team to ensure that produce section of supermarket was continuously well-presented, stocked and accurately labelled. Heavily customer-facing role dealing with enquiries about every part of the store and business. Later took on responsibility for stock management and reordering.
