Leading and shaping all things customer facing at Guru Systems.Current tech stack is a decoupled VueJS frontend, talking to RPCs written in GO and rest APIs written in Django. Using Storybook JS to create and test all the components. These components are then exported as a library to use across the various UIs in the Guru universe.

After proving my worth as an integral part of the team and showing them my experience leading projects, RY promoted me to Lead front-end to push the team and introduce new ways working and newer technologies. So far I have introduced regular catch ups with my team to help them develop their careers and skills further, worked with the Umbraco and Front-end developers to create RY’s first project with Vue JS, introduced RY to it’s first permanent QA and helped him integrate Selenium and Mocha to their Vue JS project.

Joining RY in February I was put on their biggest client’s project due to my experience at DARE. I worked with a team of Sitecore engineers, Project managers and a QA team to get the site up to a standardthat we were happy with. I introduced ES6 to the project and re-wrote a lot of the JS to help meet the requirements set by the demanding client. A lot of the JS was not built in a sustainable or reusable way which made extending and maintaining it almost impossible. Working with the Sitecore Back end team to create and improve the APIs we were able to improve the user experience.

I led the front end team on one of Dare’s biggest accounts. Working with experience planners, designers and Sitecore engineers we strived for a modular, flexible and robust library that could be used across the customer dashboard, .co.uk site and various ancillaries that would service their customers. Built with React, our main focus was to grow a comprehensive asset library of React components that was rendered serve side via Sitecore.

Whilst working at Spindrift I worked on a number of their clients using Oracle's Commerce Cloud. Oracles API driven storefront for e-commerce. I spent most of my time building a white label store front that could be used as a strong base plate for any clients need.

I worked on Dennis Publishing’s vast and eclectic portfolio. My day to day included working on new features for their Drupal distro, writing modules with Javascript to interact with the Drupal database or working with the commercial team to produce adverts that will appear on any one of the websites they maintained. I worked with Grunt and webpack to produce a universal template which generated any one of the many ad formats they produce in house. This took out all of the heavy lifting that they would do manually like CSS minification, JS linting, uglifying, optimising images and deploying the advert to the various servers or services that they used.

During my time at Adnostic I was able to improve my Javascript skills and was exposed to a lot of UI and UX principles. Working on smaller projects allowed me to get involved in a varied amount of work, from fully responsive adverts to ones with a heavy use of interaction or animation. Working in the advertising world helped me develop my knowledge and understanding of the users journey and how important it is to make sure it was as fluid as possible. I always ensured my code was as modular and reusable as possible. This allowed me to create adverts with certain common aspects that were favoured by their clients fairly quickly. My approach helped increase the teams efficiency and was recognised by senior management.

When I first started at Popcorn I was responsible for all of their clients needs once their site had gone live. It was my job to help the client in any way possible with new work, features or maintenance that they might need. I would manage and delegated the work load between myself and the team. Throughout my time at Popcorn, I was given an ever increasing level of responsibility, from meeting with clients and discussing their needs, to making their ideas a reality using the latest technologies and practices. This included building Wordpress themes, creating landing pages and building bespoke solutions to meet the client’s brief.

I was employed by Popcorn to run their maintenance department. They saw me as a good fit because of my interest in the design and development for web and recognised my good customer service skills that I had acquired whilst working at Sainsbury's to put myself through college and University.I was responsible for all of their clients after their site had gone ‘live’. I liaised pro actively withthem thereafter. I also managed and delegated the departments work load between myself and the studio team and ensure that they were all supported within their role. Throughout my time at Popcorn, I have been given an ever increasing level of responsibility and I now work on projects from client briefing through to completion using the latest technologies and practicesincluding HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery.

My primary role was to support the Creative Director which involved design and production of a wide variety of work across both print and digital. I was also responsible for building and maintaining their clients website projects using HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP.

When I first joined Sainsbury's I was employed as a trolley boy. From there I went on to work on the checkouts serving customers directly. I would often chat to customers and help back their bags. After my supervisor saw how charismatic I was she decided to train me up to run the customer service desk. I quickly learned this was not for the faint hearted and dealt with customer complaints and queries whilst ensuring that all my other tasks were complete before my shift ended. Towards the end of my time at Saisnbury's I often supported the team leaders run the checkout department, covering tea breaks and lunches and performing many of the tasks the team leader was responsible for. I would cash up the tills, lock up the store and ensure that the checkouts were clean and tidy for the next day. This experience gave me a strong knowledge off how to deal with different types of people of all ages and how to effectively resolve a wide range of problems.
