I am a graduate from the Colorado School of Mines with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I have team managing, design and prototyping experience not only from recent employers, but also from various contract positions. My position at Karl W. Schmidt & Associates was a Project Engineer for conveyor systems. I would work with customers from start to finish, beginning with the sales drawing, through design, then shipment and installation. Most of my work was using Solidworks to design non-standard components that would customize the conveyor for the customer’s requirements. I was also involved in upgrading our standard product lines so that they would be modular with different features that KWS offered. For example, the tail sections needed holes on the top plate for a push wall or loading hopper. This allowed the customer to order our standard parts, and then later add on other features with bolt on parts. At DXP I held various roles to fulfill specific department’s needs. The Project Manager position that I took over had 3 skid design projects that were failing and increasingly late on delivery. I transformed the designs and made them timely and profitable. I was responsible for part procurement, updating the location of missing items, gathering information for vendors, and providing cut sheets for the designers. All of my clients were happy with the outcome and the skids are currently working in the field today.During my time Sierra Nevada Corporation, I was on the Dream Chaser program designing main structural components for a reusable crewed suborbital and orbital lifting-body spaceplane. These parts were made out of carbon fiber and custom designed for ultimate stress loads. I took charge of designing the ring frames, intercostals, and stiffening support. Later, all of these components were combined in the cabin assembly drawings that were used for production at Lockheed Martin.
