My father and I opened a gourmet ice cream parlor in Ventnor, New Jersey in 2001. The product was superior and our customer base grew large very quickly. During my experience with our entrepreneurial venture, I created the company name, the ice cream flavor names, the company logo and slogan. I also devised the company's advertising strategy which was supported by radio, print and promotional efforts. I was also very hands-on, catering to and forming relationships with the patrons and ensuring superior customer service was practiced by all employees.We built a strong reputation in just a few short years as the best ice cream product in town, but unfortunately the business was severely seasonal and we could not make a large enough profit in the few short summer months to sustain the business, so in 2003 we surrendered our lease. I hope that some day we can start it up again in a more consistent geographical market... maybe when my father retires ;)
