Senior Editor, Custom Publishing
Current--Independently own and manage the development, production, and delivery of a high volume of K-12 textbooks, ancillaries, and digital components, with tight turnarounds, complex scopes, and strict submission dates.--Analyze and correlate state learning standards; develop tables of contents--Manage the reprint correction and manufacturing of all custom backlist titles, which includes the print and digital editions of approximately 400 titles across all disciplines, grades, and languages. --Collaborate closely across departments, including product management, marketing, sales, production, rights & permissions, design, manufacturing, accessibility, and digital course production throughout the publishing process to ensure successful, on time delivery of quality product.--Edit manuscript, markup, and page proofs, including both developmental and line editing.--Ensure all projects are scoped accurately based on market need. Manage the costing process across departments to inform P&Ls. Negotiate vendor rates and request contracts with supplier management and legal.--Collaborate with sales to review market research, pilot results, and state standard and assessment needs. Hire teacher reviewers as freelancers to inform product scope. Write marketing and cover copy.
