Implemented and supported unified messaging solutions: Avaya Modular Messaging – MSS and Exchange, AVST CallXpress, and Microsoft Exchange 2007 including SIP gateway implementation and integration with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007.Fifteen Avaya Modular Messaging–MSS and nineteen Modular Messaging for Exchange installations.Led pre-sales technical discussions.Developed documentation for internal and customer use, including installation guides, administration guides, training guides, test plans, and statements of work.Taught three-day on-site Avaya Modular Messaging administration classes – MSS and Exchange.

Researched, proposed, and implemented an Avaya Modular Messaging for Exchange unified messaging solution for 16,000 State Farm Agents. Also known as Unified Messaging, the system saves the company over 2 million dollars per year. State Farm’s environment requires a custom security configuration, silent installation routines, and custom HP OpenView Operations (OVO) monitoring, automation, and alerting.Spearheaded the conversion of State Farm’s 150-site video conferencing network from ISDN to IP. Allowed State Farm to move all video conferences in-house, saving the company 1 million dollars per year.Designed and supervised construction of a telecommunications applied research lab.Managed the lab’s network and Windows environment, including Cisco routers and switches, DHCP, DNS, and Microsoft Active Directory.Acted as subject matter expert for Cisco CallManager and voice gateways during IP telephony pilots.Installed Microsoft Windows Media Services as part of State Farm’s first pilot of video streaming technology.Studied how to use wired and wireless networking technology to better communicate with customers as part of a year-long internal study. Proposed three- and five-year action plans.

Analyzed network and systems operability to resolve problems and performance issues.Used network diagnostic tools such as the Network Associates Sniffer and NetScout RMON probes extensively.Participated in the design of network infrastructure and decisions affecting overall network performance.

Led the team that researched, proposed, and implemented a 2,000-port private dial-in system. Installed remote access concentrators, created software to configure Windows dial-up settings, and coordinated the rollout.
