Concluding the election, Rebecca and I created The Next Steps Initiative, an off-shoot of the campaign that focused on poverty alleviation

• Found and secured housing for newly arrived refugees, registering their children for school, scheduled and participated in meetings with local leaders• Conducted, through an interpreter, an interview with a Colombian refugee named Fausto and transcribed his story to help convince our member of Congress to assist Fausto in getting his family to the United States
