I moved to Indiana when I was 9 years old, not speaking a word of English. After about 6 months of note writing to communicate, and 1 year of every day tutoring to learn English; I was officially "Fluent" and no longer needed 1 on 1 tutoring. Fast forward a decade later, none of my close friends or co-workers know that English is not my first language, it is in fact French. The Summer after my graduation from Highschool I decided to join the U.S. Army with the goal of obtaining greater discipline as well as a college education without the use of debt. I earned both, as well as graduated from Combat Medic training and an acquired an EMT license. My class began with roughly 400 future medics. Which quickly dwindled down to approximately 180 at graduation due to the fast pace learning and physical demands of the training. This was all done on about 4 hours of sleep and plenty of coffee for roughly 4 months, ha-ha. Simultaneously while in the Army, I decided to purse a degree in Accounting and Finance. Numbers have always come natural to me. Therefore, obtaining my Accounting and Finance degree was a natural personal and career development step. My next step in my career is to obtain my CPA license to ensure that I continue to serve my clients as well as I can in auditing and tax engagements.
