Sony Signatures Inc. was the entertainment merchandising and merchandise licensing company of Sony Corporation of America ("SCA"). Sony Signatures was a "start up" in 1993 that grew so that at the time SCA sold Sony Signatures in June 1999, it had approximately 120 employees and annual revenues in excess of $120 million.• Organized and oversaw Business and Legal Affairs Department; hired, trained, and supervised 7 employees.• Business and contract negotiations and documentation for music, film and television, and entertainment property acquisition. Examples include consummating license and agency agreements for The Beatles, Madonna, KISS, Barbra Streisand, World Cup '98, Godzilla, Ripley's Believe it or Not!, Berenstain Bears, and scores of others.• Negotiated and documented license agreements for third party companies interested in using the trademarks, copyrights, images, and services of these properties on or in connections with their products or services. Approximately 250 license agreements were consummated per year.• Assisted in selection of, and negotiated and documented terms of, consulting, joint venture, vendor, distribution, Internet (ISP, marketing, auction), and third party agreements.• Attended to rights clearance matters, including music, video, publishing, and photographs.• Was responsible for general corporate matters pertaining to employees, real estate, risk management, and tax.• Oversaw outside counsel on litigation matters.• Established and maintained trademarks and copyrights, as appropriate; prosecuted trademark and copyright infringements.• Helped select and administered network of International Licensing Agents.
