• Worked within a team of twenty faculty and student researchers on a project to characterize composite energetic materials consisting of HMX or Ammonium Perchlorate in an elastomer binder such as HTPB or Sylgard-184.• Responsible for experimentally visualizing and evaluating the physical mechanisms behind hot spot formation in composite energetic materials culminating in a published thesis. • Fabricated Split-Hopkinson pressure bars (Kolsky bars) for use within the energetic materials project to impact and pull sample specimens.• Performed experiments at the Advanced Photon Source within Argonne National Lab visualized using x-ray phase contrast imaging.

• Developed parametric turbine diaphragm model using FEM allowing analysis of all possible size and configuration combinations and documented the creation process with instructional booklet to be reproduced by other engineers.• Determined maximum stress values in various other models including turbine blades, nozzles, and turbine casings to validate their performance under realistic conditions before proceeding with manufacturing.• Led and managed a team of interns in creating multiple fundraising events raising money for local charities, surpassing the monetary goal set at the beginning of the fundraising.

• Analyzed turbine casings in ANSYS to determine maximum stress values and locations.• Performed hand calculations for stress in turbine blades to validate FEM models.• Created detailed work instructions for selection of blade packeting configurations to streamline selection process.• Post-processed finite element analysis results in order to lower the w0rkload of senior engineers.
