Manage lead engineers and individual engineers on a team that oversees and improves the reliability and cost of quality of flight and development hardware for SpaceX. Team supports both the Falcon 9 and Raptor programs.

Lead a team of 5 engineers and 1 specialist to improve reliability, stabilize products and reduce the cost of quality through design feedback and process improvements while operating as an individual contributor serving multiple product areas. Team focus and accomplishments:• Introduction of Fairing 2.0 - realized significant reduction in quality escapes and production issues.• Development and introduction of Crew Dragon solar arrays including resolution of test failure root cause analysis and corrective actions - achieved target deadlines and significant reduction in productin issues• First steps towards Fairing refurbishment, including development of an inspection plan.• Early BFR structure development builds.• Multiple lamination raw material specification and process specification improvements.Personal contributions:• Led a team to perform damage threat assessments for all composite assemblies in Falcon and Dragon to satisfy EELV and Crew program certification requirements. Included targeted review of test and tooling interferences for Fairing which prompted preventative actions to reduce risk of damage to flight hardware.• Refined weekly product quality reviews to focus on prioritizing problems and aligning cross-teamresources. Provide strategic and technical direction in these meetings.• Created standard rework/repair document for Fairing to authorize common low-risk rework/repairs without the need for case-by-case engineering approval.• Contributed to workflow development and requirements definition for process change tickets.• Provided steering on development of next-generation action-tracking systems, including key functionalities of problem solving tools and action tracking.• Led the investigation for two Fairing test failures to root cause, which led to improvements in environmental control during bonding and improvements to configuration control and monitoring of the hardware during test.

Led projects to improve hardware reliability across multiple product groups, work centers and sites.• Served as Lead Build Reliability Engineer for the burgeoning Falcon 9 Refurbishment program in Cape Canaveral, including simultaneous refurbishment of three flown boosters at two different sites. Coordinated BRE production support and led process improvement projects, performed issue and planning reviews, created quality reports, and developed refurbishment inspection and planning standards. Build Reliability Engineering liaison to Launch/Vehicle Engineering.• Company focal point for Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control. Led efforts to improve FOD controls and cleaning/inspection processes across Falcon 9 integration and sub-assembly areas, resulting in sustained reductions in propellant tank contamination escapes to the test site, enabling a 1-day reduction in post-test processing time. Developed standards and training documentation for particulate analysis.

One of three engineers on a small project team identifying and leading cross-work center/cross-site improvement projects impacting build reliability. Major accomplishments include:• Led inspection improvements and standardization for Falcon 9 integration in order to mitigate build risk without impacting test/launch schedule. • Supported two anomaly investigations. Created multiple report exhibits and load case reviews for vehicle systems to exonerate branches of the fault tree. Primary on-site BRE overseeing the return-to-flight launch campaign in Vandenberg.• Led multiple Foreign Object Debris risk reduction projects, including; -Propellant tank cleanliness initiative for Falcon 9 first and second stages. -Creation and rollout of a company-wide control plan methodology for identifying and documenting Foreign Object Debris risks and controls while maintaining AS9100 compliance. -Root cause analysis and corrective action for a variety of hardware-cleanliness related problems. -Qualification and validation of particle counting/sizing technology in new applications.

Work with design/manufacturing engineers to enable transition of new products into production and solve the highest priority quality problems. Product areas include stage propellant valves, structural weldments and stage integration for Falcon 9.

Manage and provide engineering leadership to capital projects to support the growth of the absorbable wound closure product lines. Also serve on high performance base business teams which monitor and continuously improve key production metrics including yield, output and equipment reliability. Major accomplishments:• Managed a major multi-million dollar process expansion project, involving facility and HVAC renovations, personnel relocations and equipment installation and qualification. • Led equipment modifications and standard work development as a yield improvement workstream leader in order to increase average product yields of a target product group by 8% in 12 weeks.

Perform on-site engineering evaluations to assess fire, equipment and natural hazard loss risk, and quantified and communicated risk data to underwriters and account managers in detailed reports in order to establish overall corporate risk profile. Supporting deliverables include:• Analyzing fire protection and roof structural capabilities using hand calcs and simulation software.• Developing custom engineering/process improvement recommendations for customers to mitigate most likely loss events, communicating to plant and corporate risk managers in face-to-face consultations and influencing their adoption in order to reduce likelihood or a loss.• Tutoring new engineers on FM Global technical data sheets, analysis methods and software.
