Associate Building Services Engineer (Electrical)

Responsible for the M&E Team's project allocation, utilisation and output delivery and management.

Self Employed, carrying out a number of short term contracts with HBa, Haleys-RAP and ChapmanBathurst. Primarily carrying out detailed electrical design and site surveys.

Worked on a variety of construction projects across the West Midlands including residential, office and educational. Provided specialist electrical design as part of a consultancy team.Provided technical advice as part of a third party assessment team for a PFI project.Successfully started and completed a number of office and educational re-development projects - incorporating all elements from concept through to completion including client and project team liaison and associated site visits and inspections.Improved the systems and processes used in working with and obtaining information and works from statutory bodies.Involved in the compiling of bid documentation for a number of projects, including military establishments and educational facilities.Compiled a variety of electrical specifications (outline through to full detail) and associated schedules and drawings for a variety of project types, including educational, office, and community/charity.Conducted asset surveys and site inspections of both commercial and industrial type facilities.

Based mainly in the UK, provided technical expertise to the Military overseas estates, including co-ordination of facilities management, regulatory testing, asset management and technical training.Co-ordinated all technical training with budgetary responsibility for all military personnel employed on the overseas estates (Kenya, Belize, Brunei, Nepal and Canada).Deployed to Kathmandu, Nepal to carry out the installation of a HV ring main unit and associated LV works.Conducted numerous asset surveys on the overseas estate.Deployed to Nairobi, Kenya as part of the Military works team. To oversee the installation of new mains supply to the main UK garrison.

Based primarily overseas, provided electrical design and construction management to the British Forces deployed in operational theatres.Responsible for the design, development and construction of a 300 man training camp (to UK standards) in Afghanistan utilising local contractors.Project managed the construction (including all elements of electrical installation design) of the British Army Headquarters at Kandahar Air Base.Conducted site surveys of remote locations (within Afghanistan) under extreme conditions and time frames.Undertook an asset and facilities management survey of the British estate in Diego Garcia (BIOT).

UK based undertaking management of the Regimental design and construction team, including personnel and technical development for six staff.Deployed to Iraq in support of 16 Air Assault brigade, providing on-site design capabilities for military and local civilian projects both during and following the conflict.Set up the new regimental design team including the procurement of equipment, personnel, resources and funding as well as compiling all operating procedures and working practices.Supported a multi national exercise for c.300 staff officers in South Africa, ensuring all electrical installations were compliant with UK regulations.Conducted the initial feasibility and design study for the training facilities for the new army barracks.

Served as an enlisted Soldier, while gaining qualifications and experience as an electrician.Completed two tours in Belize as lead electrician for an extension to the hospital and for the redevelopment of the adventurous training facilities.Carried out the electrical testing of the UK Military establishment in Turkey.Deployed to Canada, Falkland Islands, Kenya, Spain and Gibraltar carrying out and managing the electrical elements of the construction works in support of the British Forces.
