In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the organization & team, Michael manages a variety of projects through stages of design and construction. The majority of his projects are programmatically diverse, and he thrives on the challenge of designing solutions where precedent is hard to find. Michael has been a catalyst in building teams of talented individuals across multiple fields; designing successful, cost effective, and creative solutions through collaboration. It is rare to find someone who not only values design, but who can help clients navigate through the complex real estate development process and ensures the built environment will have a meaningful legacy.Michael attributes his developed skill sets to years of experience working simultaneously as a master planner, architect, & project manager on multi-faceted projects with amazing clients. Some of his favorites have been developments containing complex operational models, sometimes the first of their kind, such as the U. S. National Whitewater Center and The Encore Tower, as well as an array of owner-occupied environments and unique active outdoor lifestyle projects.Michael was the lead architect and master planner for the award-winning U.S. National Whitewater Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was directly responsible for the overall aesthetic, program, and design of the world’s largest man-made re-circulating whitewater park.Since its opening in 2006, the $35 million USNWC has evolved and expanded as the unique concept gained traction. Michael has guided its evolution and design for approximately $20 million of additional structures & outdoor activity features to serve the growing activity space. When he is not busy “changing the world; one sketch at a time”, Michael is an avid outdoor enthusiast, and spends time mountain biking, climbing, whitewater kayaking, hiking, SUP packing, & his new favorite, bikepacking (just to name a few). Michael is known throughout the office for his sense of humor, appreciation for great coffee, & for finding the best deals on the best outdoor gear to support his aforementioned hobbies.
