Senior Cad Administrator
CurrentIn this role, I am responsible for coordinating, organizing and implementing complex CAD development tasks chiefly in the Customer Engineering department, but sometimes more broadly supporting users in different departments throughout our manufacturing plant here in Dublin . I also coordinate with our sister plant Mack Trucks in Macungie, PA and our North American engineering headquarters in Greensboro, NC.Some of my responsibilities include: - Performing CAD checks to ensure our releases are up to standards. - Act as the first line support to support CAD users locally with IT or technical questions - Develop and Initiate process improvementsI am also responsible for CAD training throughout our department, ensuring users are up-to-date on Creo Parametric and Windchill/PDMLink. In this function, I have developed a custom eLearning solution hosted in our global LMS. Because I believe teamwork and collaboration are critical to the work that we perform, I have created a SharePoint site to act as a central CAD Portal to host mirrors of our training videos and documentation, and to display news, updates, or planner items.
Associate Manufacturing Engineer
In this position for the Advanced Engineering group of Volvo Trucks, I was responsible for coordinating with the Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering departments to design and implement carts, tables, fixtures, jigs, and other tooling through the factory. This included 3D design in Creo Parametric, ergonomics and feasibility studies, 2D technical drawings, communication with our in-house machinists and fabricators, and final delivery of the tool to the production floor workers. In the short time I was here I digitalized an otherwise manual process by developing a collaborative log between the machine shop and our group to prioritize projects, store all DXF and 2D engineering drawings, and track deliveries. Historically this task had been accomplished with emails and thumb drives.Another part of the role was maintaining and operating the Advanced Engineering's selective laser sintering (SLS) nylon powder industrial 3D printer.
Lead Product Designer
In this role I served as an product designer in the electrical team of the Customer Engineering department. I utilized the Creo Parametric Cabling extension to create custom routing and clipping designs to meet customer adaptation requests. Custom designed hardware was often needed, so I gained a lot experience developing sheet metal parts and crafting 2D technical drawings. External relationships with suppliers had to be formed and maintained to secure technical drawings of their products for our PDM system. Assembly documentation was created to instruct the production line on how best to install and route electrical harnesses to satisfy the customer request. As an expert CAD operator within my specialized area of assignment, I often acted as a mentor to help with CAD technical issues or questions.Previously designed customer adaptations would be manually specified for future orders. This process relied heavily on detailed product knowledge and analytical and logical thinking.
