The majority of my work was conducted on behalf of a major oil company with an extremely focused health and safety program and an international mining company. I have conducted field activities including soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and subsurface investigation utilizing membrane interface probe (MIP), laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), and cone penetrometer testing (CPT) technologies in addition to traditional geochemical sampling. I have assisted with geotechnical investigations in support of multiple remediation/construction projects. Other activities have included operation and maintenance of remediation systems, oversight of well installation, and health and safety oversight of construction activities. I have also provided detailed training for new employees and contractors, conducted risk assessments prior to all field activities, maintained health and safety documentation, and participated in root cause analyses.

I worked on a variety of projects including leaking underground storage tanks (LUST) at retail gas stations, petroleum pipeline releases (initial response as well as investigation and remediation), railroad facilities, and a variety of industrial facilities. Activities included multi-media sampling, excavation oversight, UST removal, remediation system installation, LIF and MIP investigation, and oversight of in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) injection. All activities were conducted with a strong focus on safety and well-being of all stakeholders and frequently required coordination with neighboring residents, site managers, regulators, and the general public. I served as a mentor and trainer for new staff.

I worked on long term remediation projects at active and closed industrial sites. This included groundwater monitoring, maintenance of air stripper systems, and installation of a sub-slab depressurization system. I also, served as health and safety support and oversight for large-scale remedial excavation projects. Duties included oversight of multiple contractors on sites heavily impacted by historic manufactured gas plants as well as coordination of trucking contractor.

I assisted with LUST projects by conducting soil and groundwater sampling, overseeing well installation and abandonment, maintaining and operating remediation systems (air sparge, soil vapor extraction, dual-phase extraction, ozone injection), and preparing regulatory reports.
