Michael acts as an expert in cases involving accounting issues, quantification of damages, business valuations, professional negligence, personal injury and technology related issues. He has worked under various local legal systems as well as the rules of ICC, ICISD, NIA, SIAC, LCIA, SCC, and UNCITRAL on cases across a number of industries including: the electricity, oil and gas sectors, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, IT, manufacturing, insurance, banking, health care, construction, agriculture, infrastructure, and travel. Michael works closely with lawyers based locally, regionally and internationally to establish teams with the requisite language and geographical experience for each case.Michael has given evidence in numerous forums such as local courts, including those in the US and UK, as well as local and international arbitrations. He has extensive experience in dealing with disputes between private companies, cases involving sovereign states, in particular under bilateral investment treaties (BITs), and ad-hoc arbitrations. In addition, he has conducted numerous investigations leading to criminal prosecution or civil litigation, as well as the removal of senior management through negotiated settlements. Michael has three decades of experience in forensic accounting. He continues to actively lead investigations, including those under the FCPA and UK Bribery Act, obtain corporate intelligence and apply forensic technology to his client’s concerns. During his career, Michael has worked in over 65 jurisdictions and across numerous cultures. Based on this, he helped design and deliver advanced forensic training to both clients and staff. His combined practical and instructional experience has cultivated Michael’s knowledge and insight to identify subtle culturally related issues and interpretations in negotiations that investors and business partners might encounter.Michael is open to network with those interested in all things Forensic.
