Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for the formation of a CICS ‘End-State’ and a roadmap for Legacy Transformation and Modernization. Document Baseline Architecture for CICS and Batch Processing. Analyzed the existing architecture of CICS applications to fully understand current design practices and the established implementation of those designs. Determine viability of the latest SOA technology offerings from IBM. Working with staff on prototyping applications using the latest technologies within CICS TS 2.3 including CWS, SOAP for CICS and BTS. Teach design and development best practices learned from the distributed environment to the developers of CICS and COBOL applications including, Patterns (Business Delegate, Façade), Abstraction, Isolation, configurable programs driven by and responsive to metadata. Managed the systems programming area responsible for CICS and zOS systems programming, DB2 and Oracle DBAs and Enterprise Storage Management.Budget Responsible for the zSeries budget. This is currently at $22 Million. Understand the implications of IBMs VWLC (Variable Workload License Charge) on how the zSeries should be partitioned and how applications should perform in an effort to manage down operational costs. Ran four initiatives to reengineer certain applications to positively impact application performance and zSeries software costsOrganization Interfaced directly with the CIO on many topics including architecture, modernization, applications support, organization and budget.
