• Led development experience for first-party backends (Google's largest software segment; ~60k developers):
• Created Google's Server Platform offerings (codenames: Boq and Pod), providing end-to-end SDLC experience. Migrated 60% of Google's 25yr-old software repository to this stack (Bn lines of code), across all properties.
• Drove standard software solutions company-wide for CI/CD, integration testing, observability, debugging, feature flags / experimentation, traffic management, etc
• Transformed Google engineering culture by normalizing previously rejected industry practices: continuous deployments, framework-driven development, microservice architectures
• Influenced partner organizations (SRE, EngProd, SecEng) to pivot operating models around frameworks and automation (e.g. SRE reducing footprint to < 5% SRE:Dev ratio)
• Grew and evolved 250 person engineering organization. Strategic portfolio management, team refactoring, leadership and career development. Bootstrapped product management, program management, developer relations, go to.

• Founding and lead SRE for Google+
• Oversaw every major Google+ feature launch and product integration
• Introduced continuous software releases -- a first for any major Google property -- as a strategic lever against competing social networks. Led technical solutions and process improvements across Dev, SRE, QA, RelEng
• Drove rearchitecture of legacy infrastructure (Gmail, Google Groups, Reader, etc) into microservice-oriented social platform
• Designed and oversaw development of generalized solutions for graceful degradation, request prioritization, deadline propagation, load shedding, cost reporting, dependency management, regression detection, etc

• Lead SRE during early days of Gmail post-launch:
• Engineering lead for team of 6 engineers
• 24x7 incident response and complex debugging, including numerous media headline events
• Led efforts to lift Gmail to 99.99% uptime
• Drove strategic initiative to reduce software release time from monthly to 2x/week
• Oversaw testing and deployment for major architectural transitions: multi-homing, storage migrations, etc
