Better Training for Safer Food" (BTSF) is an initiative of the European Commission’s Health and Food Safety Directorate-General (DG SANTE) aimed at organising a European Union (EU) training strategy in the areas of food law, feed law, animal health and animal welfare rules, as well as plant health rules. As a BTSF (Better Training for Safer Food) manager I was involved in the management of the on-going BTSF projects in selected African and ENP Countries in order to develop the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) framework “to allow a better production, processing and trade of safe food, healthy animals and plants”.

Preparation of position papers, annual reports, opinions and strategy of the state policy in the area of food safety, I was providing an opinions and guidance from the food safety perspective, discussing and commenting on the current vs. draft of legislation, recommendations, and maximal limit values. As Cooperation Officer, I was involved in activities that were mainly focused on cooperation with Member States organisations and capacity building activities in order to support the EU scientific risk assessment community in the area of food and feed safety. ▪ support in coordination of network of EFSA national Focal Points (in EU Member States, Norway and Iceland) and engagement activities in relation to implementation of new tasks in the area of food safety, specifically cooperation with EFSA on data tasks (improving quality and timeliness);▪ support in developing strategic documents that are aligned with the organisation’s vision and goals in the area of food safety;▪ promotion of capacity building activities among EU Member States (via joined projects and grants) that strengthen cooperation at EU level among national scientific organisations operating within EFSA’s remit.
