The Assistant Shift Supervisor assists in the supervision of the administrative and operational security activities in a correctional facility. Directly supervises officers assigned to the shift and may serve as Acting Shift Supervisor in the absence of the Shift Supervisor. Provides for the protection of each inmate/resident and the preservation of each inmate's/resident's legal rights. Supervises the count of inmates/residents and mandates that all key control procedures are followed. Must be able to work any post assignment on any shift. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor or above.

Provides case management, classification and transitional services to inmates/residents• Communicates with external sources regarding inmates/residents on their caseload and supports family contact• Develops, delivers, and facilitates individual program plans for inmates/residents.• Serve as point of contact for Unit Manager in his/her absence.

Performs routine duties in accordance with established policies, regulations and procedures to maintain order and provide for the security, care and direct supervision of inmates/residents in housing units, at meals, during recreation, on work assignments and during all other phases of activity in a correctional facility.Employ weapons or force to maintain discipline and order. Post Assignment include: Education, Housing Unit, Kitchen, Library, Medical, Recreation, Utility/Escort, Segregation, Visitation
