Ferrofluidics was the leading producer of Semiconductor equipment for 200mm crystal growth before it sold the division to Kayex, a wholly owned company of SPX Corp in 1999. Ferrofluidics was later acquired by Ferrotec, a diversified technology company with a worldwide presence in a broad array of end products, manufacturing systems, and industries.Held a variety of roles with the company culminating with responsibility for the divisional P&L with sales of $70M+ of semiconductor equipment, service and support. Operational responsibility included all manufacturing operations (quality, procurement, inventory, assembly, test, manufacturing engineering, installation and project management). Reduced install time by 50% through cross-functional training and rotation. Implemented cross-functional training program and work cell concept resulting in reduced manufacturing cycle time, higher quality and employee growth. Implemented an outsource program for all non value added operations to reduce costAs business unit manager was responsible for worldwide sales, marketing, customer service and installations. Customers were 80% Asia, 5% Europe, 15% North America. Increase annual sales from $10M to $48M. Booked largest company order of $20M creating the largest company backlog of more than $80M. Established international installation team to reduce installation costs and improve quality. Included ex-pat arrangement for manager. Implemented customer satisfaction survey for feedback.Initially hired to implement a manufacturing structure and planning to meet increased sales on new product line. Reduced cycle time from 10 weeks to 4 weeks though implementation of JIT manufacturing techniques. Project manager for implementation of new company MRPII system. Created structured environment and introduced benchmarking program with local leading companies using best industry practices.
