Working with a highly engaged project team, I played a role in the successful merger of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, delivering financial analysis throughout the pre-merger evaluation process and supporting decision making by senior leaders and members. My role involved partnering with the CFO to deliver as-needed analysis, projections, and financial models as well as engaging with external stakeholders to prepare and verify the Explanatory Memorandum for submission to members.• Delivered the project on-budget as finance subject matter expert, responsible for managing the initiative budget and cost forecasts as well as collation and verification of financial information for the merger;• Managed risk engaging with EY in the conduct of an Investigating Accountant’s Report to validate merger procedures and verify forecast model for the newly merged Institute.

I joined Ozone following success in my previous role at Avrig 35 Group, a JV partner with Ozone. Tasked with delivering decision support to the CEO throughout a restructuring, this role required me to identify and solve the root causes of Group underperformance and partner with the CEO to secure private investment to fund business growth. A large component of this role was preparing feasibility studies on potential joint venture developments, advising the CEO based on findings related to potential profitability and viability of the venture, and utilising the results to secure investors.• Played a key role in 3 successful JV projects, conducting all analysis, preparing the feasibility studies, securing private investment in partnership with the CEO, and negotiating and structuring the deals;• Restructured 2 Group companies, preparing the plans and securing approvals from the banks to turnaround performance;• Recruited and on-boarded 2 key positions prior to leaving the business: a Financial Controller and Head of Legal.

I first worked with Avrig 35 as a client at EY, conducting an Independent Business Review of the Group before being recruited into a full-time position to manage a comprehensive restructuring that encompassed all 80 of the Group’s business entities. This role required a multi-pronged approach; I dealt with the fundamental organisational issues to create long-term viability, establishing a viable corporate structure to promote sustainable and profitable operations and addressed immediate cash flow deficits to ensure company survival.• Led a 35% reduction in the workforce, managing comprehensive change to restructure specific functions and company entities to achieve efficiencies;• Addressed underperforming business entities and assets, divesting 1 company and multiple assets, initiating insolvency on 5 companies, and restructuring a hotel entity to turn around performance;• Worked with financing banks to renegotiate loans on key properties to avoid foreclosure and secure additional funding to develop a land asset;• Increased cash flow by prioritising payments and establishing a treasury function.

A financial advisory role, my duties evolved over time, beginning in buy-side due diligence to identify factors affecting transaction values and transitioning to restructuring consulting following the GFC and subsequent drop-off in M&A transactions. As part of my restructuring activities, I conducted Independent Business Reviews of debtor companies on behalf of financing banks to maximise recovery of debt. Leading project teams of up to 8, I managed multiple client engagements at all times, prioritising work and tracking deadlines to deliver on schedule and on budget.• Proactively addressed the changing market following the Global Financial Crisis, contributing to the start-up of a new restructuring service division in collaboration with a UK Partner;• Recognised as a high performer, assisted to grow the due diligence function pre-crisis during a period of exponential growth while consistently overachieving on individual revenue targets; • Consulted to leading global brands, mitigating significant transactional risk on behalf of Ikea and serving as the Nortel Group’s UK administrators’ representative in Romania throughout a restructuring.
