Candidate for a doctoral degree in Applied Economics

Subject matter expert in determinants of socioeconomic disparities, inequities, and injustice. Three years of experience leveraging applied microeconomic theory, econometric methods, and key literature and methods in the fields of policy analysis and labor economics to conduct policy relevant empirical analysis. Identifying and analyzing data to provide evidence of the opportunities presented to or barriers faced by the socioeconomically disadvantaged and suggest policy solutions to promote inclusion, equity, and justice.

The primary objective in this role is synthesizing key applied microeconomics ideas and concepts to a diverse set of students to increase their chances of succeeding in the course and applying the tools they learn in their academic and everyday lives. Collaborating with and supporting the director of the Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute on research projects which aim to promote and influence policies and programs which provide disadvantaged individuals, households, and families with employment opportunities and financial wellness and security. One such project evaluates the effectiveness of a statewide high school work readiness program certification on improving students' employment and post-secondary education outcomes.

Independently executing key projects for Supervision, Regulation, and Credit - System Analytics and Support - LFBO Analytics. Projects include automating a high priority quarterly report for an audience of executive managers and bank examiners to enable quicker decision making in the midst of a large-scale economic shocks, such as a pandemic, and identifying timely data sources for key risk and performance metrics to enhance monthly and quarterly reporting.

Independently leading and executing high priority CCB Data & Analytics projects for key business partners across the line of business and firm. Projects included creating weekly spending series from transaction data for economic analysis, weighting customer transaction data to be representative of the U.S., applying unsupervised learning to improve call routing, and analyzing customer spending data to aid prediction of financial distress for commercial bank clients. Responsibilities included delivering insights about consumers, businesses and investment firms from a variety of data sources; working with complex data sets, and using statistical and data exploration techniques to drive insights; planning, leading and collaborating with internal business partners; and managing the lifecycle of an analysis project while providing periodic communications.

Supporting Data Insights & Science group for the Intelligent Solutions organization. Projects included analyzing customer deposit inflows to create a retirement flag to aid in understanding retirement transition spending patterns and trends, analyzing credit card transactions identify product marketing opportunities, and developing data products to business partners to aid in analysis of key business metrics. Responsibilities included delivering insights about consumers, businesses and investment firms from a variety of data sources; working with complex data sets, and using statistical and data exploration techniques to drive insights; planning, leading and collaborating with internal and external business partners; and managing the lifecycle of an analysis project while providing periodic communications.

Implemented and tracked a pilot to test a new branch payoff process for mortgage loans in California branches.Consolidated and restructured six customer service procedures to allow for ease of use and eliminate the need to search multiple procedures to provide the customer their needs.Analyzed and trended payment and payoff complaints monthly and educated the business on the impacts to their functions; identified process improvements that would lead to complaint reduction.Managed complaint root cause action tracking and became the liaison between root cause teams and the business partners.
