I am a Canadian Patent Agent at Altitude IP. We are an intellectual property boutique firm based in Alberta, Canada which focuses on preparing, filing and prosecuting patent and industrial design applications. We also represent a large number of foreign law and intellectual property firms in their IP matters before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.I am also a qualified UK and European Patent Attorney. I started in the patent profession in 2009 with a top tier firm in the United Kingdom, before moving to Canada in 2014. This international experience means that I am particularly well placed to advise clients who are looking to pursue patent protection around the world. My practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Canada, the U.S. and elsewhere. I have helped clients patent inventions related to a wide range of technological fields, including cleantech, nanotech, telecommunications, medical devices, sensor technology and energy generation. I like learning about new technologies, and developing patenting strategies to put our clients in the best position for success in light of their commercial goals and financial constraints. I received my doctorate from the University of Oxford in Atomic and Laser Physics. My research used high power lasers to explore matter under extreme conditions. This included examining the strength of metals under very high pressures, generating proton beams, and making aluminium transparent (for at least a few femtoseconds).I enjoy spending time hiking in the Rockies, and following the Ulster and Ireland rugby teams.
