I've worked in IT since I qualified over 30 years ago. I've covered everything from 1st line support, to specialist 3rd line support. I've managed my own small IT department as an IT manager.I spent 14 years working at Ponteland High school, as their IT manager. I've extensive knowledge of networks, especially wireless technologies, having overseen the design and implementation of several infrastructures over the years.I've worked with Voip phones systems, and oversaw the design and implementation of a voip phone system in the school. This integrated technologies such as unified messaging and integration with outlook and exchange server.To that end I have also installed and managed Exchange server right from 2003 up to exchange 2013.I have sound knowledge of server hardware having managed the schools data centre too, including many bespoke servers. Towards the end of my time there I had started to look towards virtualisation, and a move to replace the physical hardware.The initial stage of this was to migrate from Microsoft exchange server to Google. I managed the project and data transfer from microsoft systems to google and the switch to gmail. This involved many new skills and learning to use the google admin console to mange devices and users and keep them in sync with windows active directory.The school deployed many chrome devices which were centrally managed with a google MDM. I've worked extensively with Apple MDM environments and managed IPad deployments, with a central management system.Moving onto my current role, I'm a desktop support specialist, working in a 3rd line support role. I work with AD administration, computer snd system maintenance.I'm also a Citrix administrator, working as part of a team to manage the local authorities citrix environment. Recently I worked on a large project of migrating the current on premise citrix environment to citrix cloud and from a system based on server 2008 to server 2016.This has also involved integrating office 365 applications, as the authority has moved from google to microsoft.Currently working mainly with Hyper V environments migrating servers from Vmware.--------------------------------I'm also a photographer, working mainly with portrait & lifestyle photography.
