I assist the professor of ISEN 498 (Project Practicum course) in providing graduate students a positive practicum experience. Responsibilities include assisting in the identification of graduate student projects, facilitating student-client relationships, and providing students the resources to deliver beneficial client results.ISEN 498 is a 10-week, team-based consulting project for a corporate, non-profit or government partner of Northwestern University. Student teams are advised by the instructor but work directly with the client organization. There is limited traditional reading / lecture content and the topics covered include project management and team collaboration. Part of the core curriculum within Northwestern's Master of Science in Energy and Sustainability (MSES).

I worked in the Energy, Sustainability, and Infrastructure (ES&I) segment supporting the Technology and Innovation Management group. This role focused on analyzing the financial impact to original equipment manufacturers as a result of the Department of Energy's energy conservation standards for major residential appliances and commercial equipment. This role included performing manufacturer due diligence, developing market assessments, understanding manufacturer processes, developing industry cash flow models, and communicating results through technical reports and presentations. My particular areas of focus were residential and commercial heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment.

I coordinated strategic discussions between safety, quality, and production departments to implement site improvement projects; served as production liaison for 5 major product rollouts/engineering design changes. Analyzed time studies to optimize line efficiencies and decrease downtime using Six Sigma strategies on 6 assembly lines. Facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) focused on optimizing equipment and procedures. Co-led site Planned Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance Pillars; contributing to plant success in achieving Bronze Award in TPM for first site in North America Ecolab network. I collaborated with health and safety manager in ensuring site was up-to-date in Cal-OSHA and OSHA requirements. Additionally, I worked with area leads to created updated training materials to support onboarding process for new employees. I managed 6 departments and 60 employees at a high adventure resident camp for the Boy Scouts of America. This included developing and scheduling of curriculum for training and staff onboarding. We served ~4,000 participants over a 3-month season by ensuring effective operations through daily management.

As a COPE instructor, I facilitated low and high rope team building activities. Often working with national committees and local units, I aided in the development of groups of 5-15 individuals in order to build a better team environment, explore the stages of team development, participate in conflict management, and develop and create new communication skills.

At the Summit Bechtel Reserve, I served as a lead canopy tour guide. In this capacity, I was responsible for the safety and management of a group as they navigate throughout the canopy facilities. With multiple elements, I was also responsible for the daily inspection of all equipment. Lastly, I served as a counselor at the camp where I regularly engaged with the participants.

At Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation, I served as an aquatics instructor. This position included serving as a lifeguard, swimming instructor, boating instructor, and camp counselor. I also served as a crew leader helping create a community among the staff. In this position, I constantly worked with both youth and adults of all ages.
