The Center for Research Computing provides high performance computing resources for the Notre Dame campus, as well as development and support services. As a research programmer my responsibilities included planning and developing web portals, web applications, and desktop tools. I also provide support for the various projects I have worked on and GIS & programming support to the CRC as a whole.During my time at the CRC, much of my work has been developing Python and Django applications for various projects as well as general tools for current and future CRC projects. I have developed skills in Python, Django, web programming, database driven applications, unit testing, web interface design, JavaScript, Node.js, Express.js, front-end JavaScript MV* frameworks/libraries, Python packaging, SVN, GIT, project documentation, project planning, Linux administration, server configuration, automated machine provisioning, client relations, GIS programming, RESTful interfaces, Android development, etc.I have consistently received high ratings in performance reviews and am widely regarded as skilled and knowledgeable by my colleagues.

Funded by the Lily Foundation for up to 5 years, I worked on developing an updated version of the course evaluation system at IUSB. The project was written in PHP, with Javascript, HTML, CSS, SQL, etc. The faculty member overseeing this internship is Dr. Hossein Hakimzadeh, Director of Informatics at IUSB.

I was tasked with overseeing/maintaining labs on campus, assisting students with computer/technology issues.

I worked on developing several projects for a newly introduced class in Fall 2009. This class is a pre-programming course and is designed to get students excited about programming by allowing them to tackle difficult & interesting problems in a structured environment. Projects were written in VB.NET.

I participated in the Physics REU at Notre Dame under Dr. Jerry Hinnefeld, the Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at IU South Bend. He is part of the group developing St. George at Notre Dame, which is a recoil mass separator that will be used in Nuclear Astrophysics research. I worked on detector development and participated in the commissioning of the DAQ system using an existing prototype E- TOF detection system. Using Geant4, I developed a simulation to determine the final mass resolution using a range of possible detector sensitivities, including position- sensitivity, to differentiate between reacted and unreacted beam. I have presented my findings several times in 2010 and at NCUR in Ithaca, NY and the Undergraduate Research Conference at IUSB in 2011.

I was tasked with photo manipulation (touch up and editing), website administration, website upkeep (html, asp, css), interviewing and writing articles on local businesses, aiding in website design and construction, populating e-commerce websites (including creating product images, collecting product info, entering product into the cart, etc.).
