After graduating from Penn State University with a chemical engineering degree, began a career in the insurance industry as a risk engineer for Kemper in Charlotte, NC. Continuing with engineering worked as a chemical loss control consultant at Industrial Risk Insurers in Pittsburgh, PA; progressing to supervisor of field services western PA then account coordinator in Philadelphia. Transitioning to underwriting, worked as an HPR underwriter for Kemper in Philadelphia then pollution liability underwriter for Kemper Environmental in Princeton, NJ, before joining Zurich as a property underwriting specialist for Global Corporate, to re-start the property operation in the Mid-Atlantic.
