Onagoshi-Lila Haymond is currently serving as the Operations Manager for Indigenous Climate Action, where her main duties relate to supporting operational and human resources duties including coordination of staff, administrative and logistical processes, organizational development support, information technology, recruitment and onboarding, and more. At ICA, we inspire action through the development of tools and opportunities created with, by and for our communities, with the goal of uplifting Indigenous voices, sovereignty, and stewardship of the lands and waters for future generations. Together we seek to build a world with sovereign and thriving Indigenous Peoples and cultures leading climate justice for all.Prior to her current role, Onagoshi-Lila worked for District School Board Ontario North East as an Indigenous Student Advisor, ensuring that First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students received culturally sensitive support in their educational careers. She specialized in working with students from grades K-6 and provided a range of services including identifying at-risk students, creating and presenting culturally-sensitive classroom and land-based curriculum, and working with school administration and teachers to develop school-wide support and interventions. She played a key stakeholder role in bridging the gap between school staff, Indigenous parents/guardians, and community resources. She also worked at Ininew Friendship Centre, Cochrane ON, where she provided support and supervision to her clients experiencing homelessness, helped them transition to permanent housing, and maintained office procedures. Following this role, she was nominated for the Ininew Friendship Centre Board of Directors and served as a Youth Representative for a one-year term.Overall, Onagoshi-Lila's diverse range of experiences has equipped her with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders, provide individualized support to clients, and build strong relationships with families and community partners. She is committed to creating positive change in the lives of others and ensuring that all vulnerable sectors have access to the support and resources they need to succeed, regardless of the role she is undertaking.
