Technical HW lead for SkyBell’s video doorbell and security camera products. Directly interface with outside developers and manufacturing partners to bring next generation products to market. Evaluate products for regulatory compliance and industry leading performance.

Manage the WAN hardware team in the development of new infrastructure products for Trilliant’s SecureMesh WAN product line. Responsible for PCB design and layout, prototype creation, and system test. Direct, hands-on involvement of all WAN certification efforts for compliance to FCC, ETSI, and other regulatory standards. Primary interface for mechanical and industrial design activities with outside designers and vendors. Coordinate DVT and pilot builds with internal manufacturing group and contract manufacturers. Provide guidance to internal test team for board and system testing.

Directed the HW development of Firetide’s wireless mesh product line. Worked collaboratively with ODM partners and industrial designers to migrate products from prototype to manufacturing release. Conducted FCC Part 15, ETSI, and safety certification testing for all company products. Teamed with IBM to develop a customized wireless video security device for deployment in Chicago and New York City. Designed and constructed initial prototype 802.11a/g/n mesh indoor and outdoor hardware platforms for use in the 900 MHz, 2.4, 4.9, and 5 GHz frequency bands. Created system and product level design specifications. Design activities included bench level circuit and EMI/EMC de-bug, schematic capture, PCB layout, component evaluation, and field testing.

Responsible for the radio design for Proxim’s WiMax Tsunami Subscriber Unit. Designed WLAN transceivers based on the HomeRF and 802.11 standards. Job responsibilities included system architecture design, PCB layout of high frequency circuits, prototype assembly, and compliance testing. Considerable use of RF test equipment during design and prototype phases. Successfully managed the Home RF USB and 802.11a Access Point products, which stressed low cost and short time-to-market opportunities.

Primary hardware engineer for the RF design and production of AirFlow’s 802.11a/b AirHub. Re-designed existing access point for improved performance and manufacturability. Direct involvement of the PCB layout on 3 mPCI radio cards. Managed FCC Part 15, ARIB, and UL 60950/2043 testing of the product. Directed an outside ID firm to create a custom plastic enclosure.

Lead designer of a 400 MHz FSK UHF radio from prototype to manufacturing. Designed the discrete 10 Watt PA and IF/AGC circuitry for the radio. Development engineer for the airborne power supply, 900 MHz power amplifier and the main three RF boards for the In-Flight-Phone System, a start up company competing with the GTE Airfone system.
