Laser Scientist
CurrentWorking in research and development of solid state laser systems for space based lidar systems. Responsibilities include the following:1) Providing significant contributions to the development of laser systems through design assembly, test, and delivery of prototype / brassboard and deliverable field / flight laser systems.a) Know the system requirements and the flow-down impacts to the optical design and performance testing.b) Supporting engineering design efforts by providing required measurements for performance modeling and mechanical assembly.c) Developing and utilizing analytical methods / tools in support of design efforts, pre-test expectations, and data analysis.d) Developing build processes and procedures (including sub-system performance metrics) that support both design and program performance requirements.e) Training technicians in proper build / test procedures.f) Supporting program planning activities including the multi-functional build / integration roadmap and schedule.g) Planning and directing day-to-day hardware integration activities with a focus on in-progress test methodologies.h) Documenting hardware integration activities including measurement / test procedures and data for peer review.i) Supporting the interpretation of data w.r.t. predicted performance.2) Staying current with state-of-the-art technology in the field of solid-state lasers and discovering how these technologies can enable advances in the company’s products.
