In nearly 14 years as an editor at Bloomberg, I covered everything from Russia’s war with Georgia in 2008 to the impact of Brexit on the City of London. I began in Moscow as Vladimir Putin was preparing to hand the reins temporarily to his protege Dmitry Medvedev. As an editor of economic and political news, I handled stories including Barack Obama’s first visit to Russia in 2009 and the deadly wildfires the following year that blanketed much of European Russia in smoke for weeks.At the height of the euro-area debt crisis I moved to Brussels, where I helped cover the European Union’s response to this existential threat. I handled economic data for the currency bloc and ran on-the-ground coverage of summits and finance ministers’ meetings as the EU raced to shore up its struggling members and build the institutions it desperately needed in the aftermath of the financial crisis. I led a newly created team that covered nearly 20 global, European and national financial regulators and excelled at breaking news on rules while they were being developed and debated, providing invaluable insight on upcoming changes in the industry. Important scoops included the headline numbers of the Financial Stability Board’s total loss-absorbing capacity standard for the world’s largest banks and a long string of exclusive reporting on key developments in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision on completing the standards known as Basel III. This role eventually took me to London, where we wrote extensively on the tectonic shift caused by the Brexit referendum.My tenure concluded as editor on a team that covered a range of investors – hedge and private equity funds, asset managers, insurers and pension funds – as well as commercial and residential real estate. Highlights included an in-depth story on the threat potential EU rule changes could pose to the U.K.'s £1.4 trillion business of managing assets for continental funds.

As second-in-command of this Moscow daily newspaper, I assigned and edited stories and helped to lay out editions for publication. Previous roles at The Moscow Times include weekend supplement editor and general assignment reporter with a focus on politics.

I covered local government for this statewide daily. Part of a three-reporter team that produced the series "Juvenile Justice: The War Within,” which won awards including the 1999 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award Grand Prize and the 1998 Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism.
