Patrick is an Engineering Leaders Scholar at the Royal Academy of Engineering and a fourth year MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering student at Imperial College London, currently at The University of Queensland as part of his year abroad. He is passionate about engineering's role in combatting climate change, both in terms of sustainable development and climate-resilience, as well as its power to bring about social change and improve livelihoods across the globe. He is actively involved with Imperial Engineers Without Borders UK, where he helps to organise events, talks and workshops with students. In 2023, he facilitated two group submissions to the C40 Cities Students Reinventing Cities competition, one of which, ReNew Orleans, he led to global success in August 2023. In October 2023, he led a presentation to Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans outlining the group's proposals.Patrick completed a research internship with Imperial College's Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group helping to develop novel high-strength anti-clogging permeable concrete, Kiacrete, in summer 2023.Alongside engineering, Patrick is also passionate about getting underrepresented students, specifically of working class or state school background, into elite global universities. He has worked with the charity Zero Gravity over the past two years to do so, first as a mentor to three students and subsequently as an Campus Ambassador at Imperial College London.
