Patrick W. McCarthy, Director of Spaceport Operations, leads Space Florida's operational programs as their technical point of contact, providing procedural guidance for launch vehicle processing and Spaceport operations. He has thirty years experience in all facets of space launch operations. He serves as one of Space Florida’s customer facilitators with commercial, civil, and military space and aerospace organizations. He is responsible for operations at Space Florida's launch complexes and launch vehicle processing facilities.Mr. McCarthy was inducted into the National Space Club Florida Committee’s 2016 Space Worker Hall of Fame in the category of Space Launch Technology. The NSC-FL Space Worker Hall of Fame honors those who have made significant contributions to our space program in all areas of launch and mission operations. Patrick was honored for his exceptional contributions in the category of "Space Vehicle, Ground Launch or Range Systems," involving hardware, procedures, software and technical support that directly contributes to the launching of manned and unmanned payloads in support of United States Space interests.Mr. McCarthy has utilized his extensive expertise in the operational arena to revamp Space Florida's interface procedures with the U.S. Air Force Eastern Range to smooth the flight safety analysis and launch approval processes for existing and potential commercial customers. Mr. McCarthy was a catalyst for this effort, resulting in the Customer Assistance Service Program for the Eastern Range (CASPER), an integral part of implementing a key recommendation of the Governor's Commission on the Future of Space and Aeronautics in Florida.Mr. McCarthy earned a B.S. in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla. He recently became a member of the ERAU College of Aviation Alumni Philanthropy Council.Mr. McCarthy is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the National Association of Rocketry.
