-Developed and implemented a lasting transparency strategy, making the Seattle Police Department the national model in information distribution during times of crisis.-Act as a spokesperson for the Seattle Police department on various local and national media outlets, ensuring consistent messaging from inside the department.-Research and write blotter/blog posts for immediate public release on department website while maintaining a consistent voice.-Create graphics, video, and audio products for release to local and national media outlets.-Discuss police-involved incidents, policies, and procedures with reporters, and update them on breaking news events.-Advise C-suite / Executives on effective communication tactics ensuring the intended message is conveyed to media representatives and citizens by developing talking points, potential questions and answers, and ensuring proper uniform appearance.-Coordinate and plan impromptu press conferences with local and national media in fast-paced uncontrolled environments.-Release breaking news and community updates on Twitter.
