I was drawn to legal practice by the promise of advocating for individual liberty and preserving the philosophical principles engrained in our nation's founding, and, to a larger or smaller extent, by the enticement of exciting courtroom dramas. I was drawn to trial work early on, and upon receiving my bar admission, I started a law firm and went to court on day one. I have had a daily presence in the courtroom since then, and, over the years, I have racked up a fair number of war stories. I have worked hard to hone my litigation skills, sharpen my trial instincts, and polish my presentation over the years. I believe that trial work, as difficult and adversarial as it is, can be fun, and it often should be. Proper preparation makes all the difference. I like to examine each case outside of the box with a view toward the end goals. As each client has individual concerns and hopes, so each case has individual facets and evidentiary peculiarities. In litigation, taking a step back is often the best way to see the forest and the trees.When I'm not in court or preparing the next trial, I enjoy my family and the outdoors. We love our pets and our gardens. We try hard to cultivate our little corner of Loudoun County to the best of our ability, and we especially enjoy growing berries. I fill a lot of time with home renovations and an ever increasing to do list, but I like to take my time building hand made cabinets and furniture to fill our home. I find that working with my hands and spending time under the sky is the best way to remember to slow down a little in a hectic world.
