About Peter Hansen
Having a M.Sc. in experimental physics with laser spectroscopy specialization and a Ph.D. in surface & colloidal chemistry on the topic of aggregation kinetics and structural development of materials, makes Peter a visionary senior scientist who combines concept from mixed disciplines to pave the way for new methods to enlighten the complex nature of the papermaking process.During more than 20 years at RISE, Peter has been engaged in research in many areas of papermaking as researcher, project leader as well as manager. Much of the work have been to create connections between the development of properties of paper materials with fiber properties, stock preparation and conditions during the papermaking processes. In most cases this has also been in combination with developments of measurement systems or analysis methods. The recent five years, Peter has directed his research focus towards applied papermaking process analysis with the vision to enable high spatial resolution of material properties in synchronization with process conditions. This has been carried out for the pilot paper machine FEX in Stockholm as well by applied projects in several paper and board mills in Sweden. The aim has been to provide better data for analysis of process and product variability and to develop understandings for how an improved product stability may be achieved. Nowadays, this work also includes analysis of process waters and the efficiency of papermaking chemistry.
