  Peter Lambert OBE joined Business in The Community in 1995, where he worked as West Midlands Regional Director, before moving to London in 2000 first to work as National Director for Regeneration and Community Impact and then as London and South East Regional Director. Throughout this time he worked closely with private and public sector leaders, including setting up the Deputy Prime Minister’s Private Sector Advisory Panel and acting as Account Director for major organisations such as Jaguar Land Rover, Cadbury Schweppes, Barclays and HMRC. He was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in 2008 working closely with our business leadership teams across the spectrum of Marketplace, Sustainability, Workplace and Community issues and taking responsibility for BITC’s strategic business plan. Peter began his career in education, first as a teacher and then leading the Insight Programme for the Careers Research Advisory Centre. In 1984 he became a Schools Inspector and developed an Education Business Compact with the Birmingham Heartlands Development Agency, before setting up the Birmingham Education Business Partnership in 1991. His achievements were recognised with the award of an OBE in 1996 for services to education business links. Peter retired from his role of Deputy Chief Executive at the end of July 2013.Since then he has continued to work part time including working with BITC’s Responsible Business Leadership Task Force, whose report on responsible business, 'Taking it personally', drawing on input from 300 business leaders, was published at a leadership summit with the members of BITC and the Prince of Wales in February 2014. He is currently working with BITC's Community and Education teams and the Careers and Enterprise Company to help them increase business support for Careers Education and Guidance among young people.
